background info
Welcome to shifted*exposure. My name is Rob. I am a 39 year old software developer living and working in Burlington, Ontario, Canada with my wife Juliette. I felt I was getting into a rut with my photography, so I started this website in March 2005 with the intent to post one photo every day. I have had a few long lapses in my postings, but in the first year that the blog has been active, I posted 190 photos.

Trying to post daily forces me to look for the potential in everything around me and gives me a chance to share my photography and learn from your comments and criticism. Please comment on the photos and if you like what you see, vote for me at photoblogs.org by adding me to your favorites. In exchange, I will do my best to update the site every day as often as possible, listen to your critisism and answer your questions.

monitor calibration
At the bottom of every page on this site you will see a bar with 21 grey rectangles ranging from white to black. If you cannot see all 21 shades of grey distinctly, please adjust your monitor so that you can. This will ensure that the photos on this (and other) sites appear as close as possible to the originals.

If you would like a more complete monitor calibration image, click on the image at the bottom of the page and it will take you to PhotoFriday's excellent monitor calibration image.

equipment
I got a new Konica-Minolta 7D DSLR for christmas in 2004 and I am repeatedly amazed at the pictures it takes. My Olympus Camedia C-3020 has finally given up the ghost and I have been thinking of picking up another point 'n' shoot to always have in my pocket. I may also start experimenting with my camera phone and see what I can do with it. I also have a Minolta 7xi SLR and a Minolta Vectis Weathermatic, but they are both gathering dust since I went to digital. If you are interested in the 7xi, let me know, I will give it to you real cheap.

site info
This site lives on my home server running openSuSE 10.1, Apache, PHP and MySQL. It uses a slightly modified version of PixelPost 1.5 to run the photoblog. I liked PixelPost so much that I worked with the development team for the 1.4 version. I have also written several addons for Pixelpost to extend its functionality.
